Martha Purdy

Registered Physiotherapist, Manual Osteopath, Certified Stott Pilates Teacher, Certified Pelvic Floor Therapist

Martha Purdy is the founder of SYNERGY Physiotherapy + Pilates. She is a physiotherapist and manual osteopath with over a 20 years of  experience in injury prevention and treatment. Martha has postgraduate certifications in manual and manipulative therapy, acupuncture, pelvic floor rehab, and pilates.  She has completed a five year + thesis Osteopathy program at the Canadian College of Osteopathy.

Francesca Ambrocichuk

Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Stott Pilates Mat and Reformer Teacher, Certified Pelvic Floor Therapist, Special Interest in Pre and PostNatal Health

Francesca brings over a 16 years of experience to the team at Synergy. Francesca received her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto in 2004 and has been a part of Synergy since it began in 2011. She has postgraduate training in manual and exercise therapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation, acupuncture, and osteopathic techniques. Francesca brings over a decade of experience to the team at Synergy. Francesca received her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto in 2004 and has been a part of Synergy since it began in 2011. She has postgraduate training in manual and exercise therapy, pelvic floor rehabilitation, acupuncture, and osteopathic techniques of myofascial release and visceral manipulation. She has been a certified Stott Pilates instructor since 2010.

Jessica Bergevin

Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Pelvic Floor Therapist, Special Interest in Running Injuries, Trained Stott Pilates Teacher, BScKinesiology, Pre-Post Natal Certification with Bellies Inc.

Jessica attended Dalhousie University, completing a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with distinction.  She then pursued her Masters of Physiotherapy at Queens University in her hometown of Kingston, Ontario.  During her education, Jessica taught woman’s fitness classes, specializing in pilates, as well as learn to run clinics.

Jenna Stirling

Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Pelvic Health Physiotherapy, Trained Stott Pilates Teacher, BSc Biomedical Sciences, Special Interest in Men's Pelvic Health


Jenna graduated from the University of Ottawa in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences (Honours). She continued her education at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON where she attained a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy. Following completion of her degree, Jenna moved to St. John’s, NL where she began a practice in orthopedics and pelvic health physiotherapy. She has since returned to her home province, Nova Scotia, to continue her career in physiotherapy at Synergy.

Tara Moore

Registered Physiotherapist, BSc Kinesiology, Certified Stott Pilates Teacher

Tara, originally from Nova Scotia, graduated from the University College of Dublin’s school of Physiotherapy in Ireland. Following her degree she obtained her STOTT Pilates Certification and started integrating both physiotherapy and pilates into her practice.  She is excited to be part of the Synergy team and share her passion for a physically active lifestyle. Tara participates in a number of recreational activities including running marathons, yoga, cycling, Pilates and basketball.



Bree Bates

Registered Physiotherapist, Certified Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, BSc Kinesiology, BSc Bio


Bree is a native of Cole Harbour, NS, where she was involved in several sports growing up, but long distance running is her passion. She was a varsity cross country and track athlete during her undergraduate degree at St. Francis Xavier University where she earned a Bachelor of Science with Advanced Major in Biology. She then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Dalhousie University, subsequently completing a Master of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University. 

During her Physiotherapy degree she gained an interest in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and Women’s Health. Bree has experience in orthopaedics in both the private and hospital settings, and currently also works with seniors.   Bree has completed post-graduate training through Uro-Santé to obtain Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy Levels 1 and 2.  She is also currently completing her Stott Pilates Mat Intensive course and is excited to integrate this into her clinical practice at Synergy.  


Ulla Wagner

Registered Massage Therapist, Registered Manual Osteopath, Certified Stott Pilates, Total Barre, and Yamuna Body Rolling Teacher

Ulla joins our PhysioPilates teaching team at Synergy with many years of experience teaching pilates, with certifications in both Stott Pilates and Yamuna Body Rolling.
Ulla has practiced as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) since 2002. She started her osteopathic training in 2008 and has successfully finished a 5 year +thesis Diploma of Osteopathic Manual Practice at the Collége d’Ètudes Osteopathique in Montréal. She believes in a full body approach to wellness and finding the root cause of the problem.

Kerry McInnes

Msc Rehabilitation Research, BSc NeuroScience, Physiotherapy Student, 200 Hr. Certified Yoga Teacher

Kerry is a yoga teacher and student of Physiotherapy at Dalhousie. She completed her Master’s of Science in Rehabilitation Research at Dalhousie in 2016 and learned to value an evidence based approach to understanding human movement. Kerry strongly believes in the inseparability of mind and body, otherwise known as the mind-body connection. She believes that a movement practice is a beautiful place to explore this fascinating connection. In her teaching, she encourages her students to develop awareness and curiosity of their bodies. She teaches her students to watch and listen to the way their minds and bodies experience and react to both movement and stillness.  Kerry also believes that movement is a powerful tool for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and overall wellness. She looks forward to incorporating these beliefs into her PhysioYoga classes at Synergy and her future physiotherapy practice (Dalhousie 2021). 

Susan Ross

Physiotherapist, Certified Stott Pilates Teacher

Susan Ross graduated from the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy in 1991, after completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1988. Susan practised as a physiotherapist in Halifax at the QEII hospital and the NS Rehabilitation center, as well as in Victoria, B.C, until 2003.  Her last five years of practice specialized in outpatient orthopaedic caseloads. She took her first Pilates class in 2001 and was hooked instantly. Her passion led her to become a certified Stott Pilates Mat instructor in 2002, from which time she has been teaching classes to the public.  In 2010, Susan completed postgraduate Stott Pilates rehabilitation courses in Toronto and Portland Oregon, making her one of the first certified Stott Pilates Rehabilitation therapists for Mat and Reformer in Halifax.

Tia MacDougall

Registered Physiotherapist, FCAMPT, Certified Stott Pilates Teacher

Tia earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University’s School of Physiotherapy. She has continued her professional study within the orthopedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and has completed a diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. Tia’s work as an orthopedic laboratory instructor at Dalhousie University ignited her passion for patient education. This has continued throughout her career. Tia is excited to be part of the teaching team at Synergy, where she can focus on restoring optimal function through the use of exercises and muscular rehabilitation.
