  • pelvic pain

  • pain with penetration

  • decreased body awareness

  • anxiety and stress, impacting balance of the nervous system and muscle tone

  • erectile dysfunction

Gender Affirming Surgery

If you are considering or have had, Gender Affirming Surgery (GAS), physiotherapy is also recommended for all top and bottom surgeries.  Recent research suggests physiotherapy as a standard of care pre and post operatively to optimize recovery and improve quality of life (Jiang, et al., 2019; Manrique et al., 2019).

Bottom surgeries involve numerous incisions, that result in scar tissue and multiple areas of healing tissue.  The pelvic floor muscles, urethra, nerves and fascia are impacted during surgery which may result in urinary, bowel, and/or sexual dysfunction as well as pelvic pain.

Top Surgeries of breast augmentation or removal can cause scars and adhesions that reduce mobility in the chest, ribs and spine.  This may affect breathing, posture, and range of motion, leading to pain, weakness and decreased flexibility.

Our team is committed to ongoing education and learning to serve your individual needs.  We offer private treatment rooms, and one on one care, aiming to create a safe and welcoming environment.
