What is a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS)

The CBS certification is exclusively awarded by LER and identifies a lactation professional who has received training in the education and support of breastfeeding/chestfeeding families through pregnancy, breastfeeding initiation, and lactation. Upon completion of training and examination,  a CBS is required to recertify and pass the examination every 5 years.

To achieve her certification, Callee has completed both the comprehensive programs offered by LER, including the 45+ hour Core Lactation Course (CLCC) and the 95+ hour Lactation Consultant Training Program (LCTP). Successful examination and completion of the 95+ hour LCTP course meets the lactation specific education requirement from the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners.
